Rusca & Rusca Law (ruscalaw.com), established in 1993.
Rodney Richard Rusca, licensed, practicing, and winning since 2008, privately since 2012. Rodney has been working for the government as a public defender since 2008, helping the public defend the indigent. In 2012, he started working at Rusca and Rusca Law, Rusca & Rusca Law, established in 1993. In June of 2018, The Fresno County Superior Court Appointed Rodney to his first family law minors counsel case. October of 2020, The Fresno County Superior Court appointed Rodney to his first murder case. March 2021, Rodney was appointed to a Ciummo Conflict Dependency Counsel, responsible for representing parents and children for Fresno County Superior Courts. While working at Rusca & Rusca law, Rodney handled personal injury, slip and fall, dog bite cases, probate, guardianship, and family law cases. In July of 2024, he left Rusca & Rusca Law to establish Rusca Law and support Rusca Therapy. Rodney practices primarily in areas of law that involve the family and/or preventing jail or prison, including: Employment Defense, Divorce, Child Custody, Child Support, Spousal Support, Guardianship, Dependency, Criminal Defense, Insurance/Accident, and Appeals in Fresno, Kings, Los Banos, Madera, Mariposa, Modesto, Fairfield, Monterey, Napa, Santa Barbara, and Ventura Counties and is able to practice in any county in California.
Starting Rusca Law
August 1, 2024, Rusca Law was started as Rodney R. Rusca left employment with Rusca & Rusca Law. There are no hard feelings, he just does things differently.
Rodney started his legal career when he met Lisa, who was a social worker before a therapist. Lisa helped him take on dependency cases (sometimes referred to as “CPS” cases), while employed as a full time Fresno County Public Defender. Rodney would go on to work for Ciummo and Associates and then the Alternate Defense Office, both locations were employed with the best vibed attorneys in the area as defense attorneys usually are. Rodney believes that those drawn to defend the indigent accused have better personalities because of the perspective given through helping people in a difficult situation when society seeks to punish them. The Courts trust Rodney as evidence by appointments: June of 2018, The Fresno County Superior Court Appointed Rodney to his first family law minors counsel case. October of 2020, The Fresno County Superior Court appointed Rodney to his first murder case. March 2021, Rodney was appointed to a Ciummo Conflict Dependency Counsel panel position in departments 21, 22, and 23. He represents parents and children for Fresno County Superior Courts. There are not many attorneys who have dealt with murder trials in criminal court, toxic codependent or narcissistic partners in family court, and urgency/compassion needs of those in long lasting civil cases. Rodney can handle any legal matter; but chooses to focus his time on helping those who his expertise is best suited to.
Rodney decided to bring the Napa lifestyle with good vibes mentality to the rest of California, while practicing primarily in Fresno. Rodney intends to open future offices in Napa and Ventura counties soon, so that he can help anyone in California.
In Napa, and Ventura, you can take your dog inside practically anywhere. There is no place in Fresno that allows dogs in an air-conditioned environment. The Fresno vibe we get is, “why would anyone take their dog out to eat? They should stay at home.” Or “the barking is disturbing our meal.” That vibe represents everything Lisa and Rodney are fighting to change. In a city that hits temperatures over 110 degrees, it is a symbol of intolerance. Our culture influences us in not challenging unjust rules. Rodney and Lisa both jaywalked before January 1, 2023, when it became legal in California with the Freedom to Walk Act. Rusca Law and Rusca Therapy exist to combat those bad vibes/unjust rules and equip you with the tools to stand up for what is right. Whether it is you avoiding picking up trash on the freeway, keeping custody away from a toxic partner while/if they recover, or staying out of jail; Rusca Law and Rusca Therapy exist as a place where there is no judgement, only solutions.
